C’River: Don’t Distract The Incoming Govt With Unnecessary Legal Tussle – APC Youth Group Cautions Politicians

By Our Reporter

The APC National Youth Caucus in Cross River State have frowned at attempts by some politicians in the state to create chaos and disunity among Cross Riverians.

APC National Youth Caucus is a pressure group within the ruling All Progressives Congress whose objective is to ensure a just, fair and youth participation in the political process of the country.

The group in a statement made available to journalists in Calabar today described the action by some political party leaders to cause disaffection as their personal and selfish quest to continue to keep many indigenes of the state in perpetual poverty.

State chairman of the group, Comrade Dunamis Archibong while addressing the press described actions of some politicians to use the governorship election petition tribunal in Calabar to disttabilize the state.

“Cross Riverians have freely and unanimously chosen their leader for the next four years, and we advise that we should be respected by everyone who claims to love the people and wants to serve. This continuous fighting through Court litigations, amounts to fighting the will of the people. Sen. Otu came well prepared for the job and as we all know, the people have willingly given him their mandate, the least any well meaning person can do now is to display sportsmanship rather than opposing the meriterious will of the people.”

The statement further said that

“The resounding victory of Ntufam Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu at the Governorship poll was not by coincidence, it was due to years of hardwork, building reputation, trust, his simplicity, accessibility, capacity and visible achievements that have endeared him to the people”

According to Comrade Dunamis, anyone who thinks of challenging the mandate given to Sen. Otu will be challenging the right and will of the people.

” The truth is, the Cross River State Governor-elect Ntufam Sen. Bassey Edet Otu’s victory cannot be challenged, how can you challenge a man who won in 15 out of 18 LGAs with high margin, defeating his opponent even in their respective LGAs.

“We appeal that for the interest of our dear state and her peace and progress, whosoever is in court as a result of the Governorship election should as a matter of urgency, withdraw the suit to avoid distractions and unwarranted delay in the progress of our state”
