A suspected phone thief was yesterday, April 9 lynched by angry mob in Calabar, Cross River State, after he was beaten to death by the mob.
The incident happened at Edim Otop Street on Sunday afternoon while Christians were celebrating Easter.
Eyewitnesses told GRASSROOT REPORTERS that the phone thief, identified as Eyo, broke into a lady’s house, raped her and stole her phone.
The unidentified lady was said to have raised alarm, which alerted youths in area who ran after him and eventually caught him.
He was beaten and set ablaze with tyre by angry youths.
His remains has been evacuated by men of the Nigeria Police.
