The candidate of the Labour Party, Hon. Bassey Akiba Ekpenyong has been declared the winner of the House of Representatives election for Odukpani/Calabar Municipality Federal Constituency in Cross River State.
Hon. Akiba has successfully sent the current member representing the constituency, Rt. Hon. Eta Mbora packing from the Green Chambers after 12 years of occupying the seat.
Labour Party scored a total of 23, 781 votes to defeat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Edim Inok who scored 21,066 votes.
Eta Mbora of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came third with a total of 19,534 votes.
Hon. Bassey Akiba, one time Chairman of Odukpani Local Government and former member of the Cross River State House of Assembly, was declared the winner by the Returning Officer for the election on Monday night.
