The Cross River State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Gertrude Njar has been abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
GRASSROOT REPORTERS gathered that Mrs Njar was kidnapped on Wednesday morning, February 1 and whisked away to the creeks.
Her shoes and car was found by security operatives in Calabar.
The police has confirmed the kidnap of the commissioner, revealing that efforts are on to comb the creeks to ensure her rescue.
The Deputy Public Relations Officer, Cross River State Command, Igri Ewa said:
“We are combing all the creeks in Calabar South and have also unleashed the tactical forces towards the rescue of the commissioner. We have deployed our men, including the tactical teams to be on the trail of the suspected kidnappers. We cannot yet confirm the extent they have gone.”
