Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has declared Thursday 26th and Friday, 27th January 2023 as work-free days to enable civil and public servants in the state to collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had extended the deadline for the collection of PVCs to Sunday, 29th January, 2023.
A statement signed by Eric Anderson, the State Commissioner for Information and sent to GRASSROOT REPORTERS noted that the work-free days are not public holidays.
The statement partly read:
“Government wishes to make it abundantly clear, especially for the benefit of members of the General Public to note that these WORK-FREE days are not Public Holidays and should NOT be seen as one.
“Civil and Public Servants in the State are hereby advised to take advantage of these WORK-FREE days to get their PVCs in readiness to make their votes count in these elections.”
