Former Chairman of Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board (CRSUBEB) Hon. Omaga Odo, on Saturday evening, escaped death by whiskers as gunmen suspected to be kidnappers opened fire on his car along Akamkpa-Uyanga axis of the Ikom-Calabar Highway, Cross River State.
GRASSROOT REPORTERS gathered that the gunmen who blocked the highway, opened fire on his car in an attempt to kidnap him, but he managed to escape, with his car riddled with bullets.
The Akamkpa-Uyanga axis of the highway, in recent weeks, has witnessed unprecedented kidnap activities.
Last week, about seven health care workers, including two medical doctors, were kidnapped at same spot.
They were however released after the payment of ransom.
