
The Cross River State government has placed a total ban on all illegal mining activities in the state, especially in Biase and Akamkpa Local Government Areas with immediate effect.
A statement signed by Dr Alfred A. Mboto, Permanent Secretary, Government House, and sent to GRASSROOT REPORTERS, he said the activities of illegal miners constitute a threat to the safety and security of these areas.
Dr Mboto said Governor Ben Ayade has ordered a total ban on all illegal mining activities in the state forthwith.
He added that:
“Security Agencies have been directed to seal all illegal mining sites and arrest and prosecute all illegal Mining Companies and persons involved in this illegal activities.”
