No fewer than three thousand three hundred poor and vulnerable people in Cross River State have benefitted from N20,000 per person on the Federal Government National Social Investment Programme.
Speaking at the event in Calabar, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiyat Umar Farouq, said the scheme was aimed at lifting millions of households out of poverty under the Conditional Cash Transfer.
The Minister who was joined by the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Women Leader, Betta Edu said poor women were the major beneficiaries of the scheme.
Earlier during her visit to Government House, Governor Ayade said Cross River State has benefitted immensely from the Federal Government National Social Investment Programme.
Some of the beneficiaries of the scheme commended the Federal Government over the transparent nature of the process of disbursing the fund in Cross River State.
