|Senator Prince Otu|

The Directorate of Media and Publicity of Senator Bassey Edet Otu, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State has dissociated the former lawmaker from ethnic politics and rising campaign by some persons for Efiks not to vote for non-Efiks, popularly referred as Atams in next year’s general elections.
Our attention has been drawn to an alarming and rising campaign refraining Efiks from voting Atam in the forthcoming general elections, a narrative drawn on tribal and ethnic lines.
We wouldn’t have bothered to address the issue if it weren’t for reports that the majority of those involved in the dissemination of the agitations are working for Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu.
Senator Otu has a track record as one of the most detribalized public servants in the state. Recall, his days in the National Assembly, as Senator representing the Southern Senatorial District, his outreach was not just limited to his senatorial district, he reached out to indigenes across the State.
One of Senator Otu’s cardinal priority is unifying the State and bringing an end to inter-communal wars and crises arising from ethnicity.
Senator Otu and his campaign do not engage in demarketing. It is not in the character of the Sweet Prince. We’ve ran a clean campaign in line with the values of the Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu and his principle of politics without bitterness
We want to state categorically that, Senator Prince Bassey Otu has no knowledge of any ethnic campaign neither is he involved in the unnecessary agitations.
