Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State will on Monday, February 8, swear-in Justice Akon Ikpeme as the Chief Judge of the State.
Justice Ikpeme was twice rejected by the Cross River State House of Assembly on grounds of being a non-indigene even though she was born in Cross River State and her mother from the state. She is also married to Dr. Bassey Ikpeme, a medical doctor from Odukpani Local Government Area of the state.
She was however confirmed by the lawmakers last week, following the expiration of the three months acting tenure of Justice Eyo Effiom Ita.
