The current Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Zana  Akpagu has emerged the Senatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the forthcoming Cross River North Senatorial election slated for next month.

Prof. Akpagu polled a total of 75,492 to defeat his closest rival, Barr. Joe Agi who scored 12,818 votes.

The APC had adopted direct election for the senatorial primaries.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had called for election to fill the vacant seat formerly occupied by Sen. Rose Oko who died after a protracted illness.
