A final year student of the Department of Elementary Education, Cross River University of Technology, Calabar (Crutech), Felix Egot was today hacked to death by suspected cultists believed to be members of Klans Cult. A female student was also hit by stray bullet. The incident took place near the Student Union Government Secretariat of the school.

An eyewitness who spoke with Odukpani Daily reporter on condition of  anonymity said the student was shot several times and matcheted severely.
” The boys came out from the bush, shot him many times and used matched to rip off his throat. Many students scampered for safety. He is said to be the leader of Black Axe Cult, so this may be a retaliation by Klans Cult for the killing of their top man in the school some months ago” he said.

The victim is alleged to be a top leader of the Black Axe Cult in the institution. Attempt by the rampaging cultist to extend the war to the University of Calabar was thwarted by men of  the Nigeria Police who were stationed at Goldie gate of University of Calabar.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up at both institutions to forestall further breakdown of law and order.
